NADA Acupuncture (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association)
--Private Treatment
The clinic now offers Private Sessions for the NADA Protocol to help those suffering with the following conditions:
Many people who have had little success getting off prescription pharmaceuticals (for pain, sleep or other now-resolved health concerns) should consider this treatment. The treatment protocol is based on the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) protocol for addiction recovery in use in the U.S. since the l970s and involves the placement of five needles in specific sites on each ear which correspond to specific organs including the lungs, liver, kidneys and nervous system. They trigger a release of natural endorphins to increase relaxation, relieve tension, and ease substance cravings for those undergoing detoxification whether from narcotics or pharmaceuticals.
This specific protocol also helps those who are struggling to manage diabetes, high blood pressure, trauma, chronic insomnia and symptoms of withdrawal (these symptoms might include those already listed plus tremors, headaches, nausea, and muscle cramping, among others).
Treatments are strongly recommended 1 – 3 x a week (by appointment) and uses ear points on each ear for 45 minutes. The First treatment is set at $40; Subsequent visits are $35 each. Please call the office to set up your initial visit or to have your questions answered.

From the NADA info sheet:
"Acupuncture for the treatment of addiction disorders is a recent development in the history of this ancient medicine. For centuries, Asian cultures have placed needles in precise locations on the body to relieve pain and treat disease. Only since 1972, when a Hong Kong neurosurgeon, H.L. Wen M.D., discovered that acupuncture could alleviate symptoms of withdrawal, has this method been used for detoxification and relapse prevention. In the USA, acupuncture detoxification was first introduced on an outpatient basis in 1974 at Lincoln Hospital, a facility in the South Bronx area of New York City. By the mid-1980's, the success of this unique procedure had become so evident that treatment facilities across the US began incorporating acupuncture into their substance abuse programming. In 1985, the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) was established to promote education and training of chemical dependency clinicians in the NADA ear acupuncture protocol. In 1987, Bullock, Culliton and Olander published research on the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating chronic addiction. Acupuncture detoxification grew rapidly, evolved and is now used effectively for acute and prolonged withdrawal as well as relapse prevention. Over one thousand programs in the USA now use acupuncture and NADA is proud of this success. NADA has trained over 5,000 clinicians and acupuncturists in the US and worldwide." |
